A really good pLace to ask the question is on the Goat Island Skiff Group on Facebook ... if you use facebook.

It is a super informative and useful group.

Most goats are trailered on flat bed trailers with two crossways supports that are approximately under the bulkheads at the front and rear of the boat. 

if they are well carpeted the boat will slide well enough with no chance of damage. And when tied down correctly is pretty immovable.
