Kits for Storer Designed Canoes and the Texas Duck which is an Ozracer derived kit.
A camping get together for Goat Island Skiffs, other storerboats and friends and fans and other boats. Three or Four days camping by the water with friendly people. Interesting in building a Goat or actually building one … all are very welcome.
Ian Henehan worked out this 12ft Goose Version and launched it into 20 knot winds. You can check the video to see that this is probably correct. It certainly is, despite the poor camera angle which changes a few times the boat is fairly smoking along on a reach at one point with fine drifting […]
ReallySimpleSails.com saves $300 or more on your Goat Island Skiff, Oz Goose or Oz Racer. Custom sails for other boats are also available and will represent a cost saving on your boatbuilding project. These are full quality sails that we all have worked hard to keep the price down on without reducing quality.
Dave Lafontaine built his Goat Island Skiff in New York over the last couple of years. He’s now using it for some of the things he had planned.
What is revolutionary about a day sightseeing? The boat is driven easily at reasonable speed with a small electric trolling motor – some are well under 200 dollars. It doesn’t require a trailer. It comes from three sheets of exterior plywood. Costs are down on every front. And the family is happy! Snohomish Estuary
Just for the hell of it, Stephen put a 2hp outboard on the back of his Electric Quick Canoe. Watch the boat fly in the video. Speed with little or no fuss. Also a discussion of hullforms for different speed ranges.
The OzRacer RV sailboat is meant to be a very simple boat that can be homebuilt. Most build it to get on the water quickly, but Mark Milam has done an amazing job of overseeing a project combining his work with that of a boatbuilder friend. Wonderful woods, some great detail design and the very best fitting of a windsurfer rig to a dinghy that I have ever seen.
This OzRacer mk2 has a number of changes from the original design, but Bob has pulled it off. The biggest risk is that the windsurfer mast might break because it is not meant to be supported in this way – it is meant to be held up higher by the arms of the sailor. Additionally […]

Some basic questions were asked on my forum about the design of amas. There are so many permutation of ama length, crossbeam width, ama volume with performance ranging from very poor to very good. But what are some of the basic criteria?
List of Kit suppliers for Storer Boat Plans. UK and Europe, USA, Australia, South Africa. Kits make building a Storer Boat even easier.
The Quick Canoe Electric is a simple to build cartoppable square back canoe. It can be quickly and simply built in plywood. Peter Caspari’s boat is shown here.
John Goodman and I sailed the immaculate Goat Island Skiff he built from my plan in the Texas 200. The boat showed itself to be one of the faster in the fleet despite loading up such a short boat with food, water and camping gear for six days with little outside support. We played with sailing the boat by the lee – a method used by racing boats to gain both speed and control. I document the method here including a video showing how the angle of heel can be controlled using the mainsheet.
More videos of John Goodman’s Yawl Rigged Goat Island Skiff. He is trying out some rigging variations to see if we can simplify the building of the yawl rig version. At the moment this is inconclusive, but wow, he got some good videos
The TEXAS 200 sailing event is on again. A 200 mile sail and camping trip up the Texas coast that runs every year. I am going to be in town, so would be crazy not to attend. This is a call for all interested storerboats to consider attending.
Michael Storer will be attending the 2011 Woodenboat Show in Mystic Seaport. He will be running a workshop for families building the Quick Canoe – choice of either the electric or the paddling versions along with Duckworks and J.O. Woodworking.
