Hi Steeve,

The Everglades Challenge really is a challenge. Many of the boats that start do not finish. And this included many well designed boats. I would take the Viola on the Everglades Challenge, but I have been sailing and racing for 50 years and am a top level boat handler. I would also know that there would be a good chance that I might need to retire from the event if conditions became too difficult. Hopefully BEFORE they came too difficult.

In other words it depends much more on the sailor than it does on the boat if the boat is reasonable in the first place.

A 5'4 person would be able to lie down but remembering that it is only a 14ft boat and with a narrow cockpit ... it will not be comfortable. The best plan for the Everglades Challenge is to carry a tent and camp ashore as most participants decide to do.

A mirage drive has been fitted in front of the centrecase. But it will cut into sailing performance significantly particularly upwind.

Best Regards
Michael

Very interesting design.

Can a person 5'4" laydown inside the cockpit to sleep?

Could she be built with a Hobie Mirage Drive in the C/B slot?

Can the lug rig be in sections?

Would this boat be capable of the Everglades Challenge?
