The BRIO Sailing Marathon is a very competitive sail and paddle event in the Netherlands. Joost and Viola in their Goat Island Skiff went in the 2017 event. Against the specialised boats that enter the event they ended coming in 57th of 139.
The GIS excels at a competive row and sail event. The Caledonia RAID is one of the oldest events of its type. A competitive multi day event that crosses Scotland from West to East including a crossing of Loch Lomond. It tends to attract long and efficient rowing sailing hulls. And here was one of the shortest, simplest and lightest hulls in the fleet punching well above its weight

The Drop in Outriggers can provide stability for many canoes kayaks and narrow dinghies. It can turn a less stable boat into an quick sailing platform or into a dive or snorkelling boat or a good fishing boat. No component is heavier than 10lbs and often the small hulls can fit inside the canoe when roofracking.
Pierangelo contacted me earlier this year (2008). He liked the strong aesthetics of my dayboat design but wanted more space. The result was this 27 foot riverboat. As Pierangelo will use it in Venice for travelling in the lagoon and along the canals the name became Venezia. I’ve just added many more photos to the article.
A 12lb canoe. The idea was to build a Rushton Wee Lassie in balsa strip with very light glass. The boat ended up being fairly durable despite not being interested in durability. As far as I was concerned I was going to be happy if it lasted a couple of years before being chucked into a dumpster somewhere. But five years later it was still beautiful despite good use.
Why are these plans FREE? Because I want people to know just how good correctly proportioned touring paddles can be. Most of the paddles sold commercially are based heavily on racing models, which are fine if you are in training and only want to go 500 metres at the highest possible speed. For the rest of us there is a better balance available when we might be paddling for several hours or where the boat may be loaded. The oars were drawn to fit the Goat Island Skiff, but will fit other boats of a similar width.
The Dayboat/Launch is 23ft long and intended as a Dayboat or Camp Aboard boat for a small family. It has space for an enclosed toilet. The design is complete drawings for hull but final decisions are left to the builder. It is not step by step instructions like my smaller boats. It cruises at near 8 knots with a 10hp high thrust Yamaha outboard.

BETH sailing canoe is design #1. Light enough to cartop and at home in a club fleet of lasers. Much easier and lighter to set up and sail than a Laser. Really only recommended to experienced dinghy sailors.
