The OzRacers are steadily growing in numbers in Hungary. This increases the chance of meetups like this occasionon Lake Valence. Two very experienced sailors participate and enjoy the boats.
Fyne Boat Kits has an excellent reputation for customer service and quality. I am happy to announce that they will be gradually phased in as the UK Agents for storerboats kits, plans and materials.
Csaba Mezai, storerboatplan’s agent in Hungary translated my plans into Magyar (Hungarian). He also runs by far the biggest website in that language – www.hajoepitok.hu which includes a very active forum. It is seven or 8 minutes long looking at the Eureka, discussing the Quick Canoe and OzRacer simple sailboat and discussing the plans are at about […]
A few photos and a short report from Hungary. They held their first wooden boat messabout. 30 people, 10 boats and a big pot of homemade goulash!
List of Kit suppliers for Storer Boat Plans. UK and Europe, USA, Australia, South Africa. Kits make building a Storer Boat even easier.
The above photo was taken on the third day of our Canoeing trip on the Loire River in France. The two black canoes didn’t even exist a week ago. When I wrote the original article on Disposable Canoeing I had no idea at all what it would lead to me and a bunch of adventurers, wine and cheese connoisseurs. Most of us didn’t even know each other! The picture above is the result of this adventurism, but what happened to make it happen? What technology was involved to make the boats faster to build than most stitch and glue boats and what weather conditions did we have to overcome to make it all happen.
Csaba is my agent in Hungary. He has translated several of my plans to Hungarian. This is some of his promotional material in Hungarian.
The dot in the bay above is Perttu’s Microcruiser sailboat on a three day trip on the extensive Finnish waterways. The boat is tiny – 8ft long and is based on my successful OzRacer design (formerly OZ PDRacer) It is a brilliant concept and sails well upwind and down on inland waters.
A video of the Quick Canoe in action. My Agent in Hungary who sells plans in both English and Hungarian has launched the first Quick Canoe in those parts. It is designed as a very simple and easy to build boat. It is not a perfect high performance boat, but the numbers have been worked out to give good performance despite the simple shape. It won’t be as good as the best fibreglass canoe, but it will be better than many average ones. And much cheaper and lighter.
Robert Hoffman has been busy using his BETH sailing canoe that he built over a cold Polish winter. There are now videos. I have also linked to all my videos on youtube – so you can see many storerboats sailing.
There is a new website for the Loire trip in France 2011. It has been a bit traumatic putting it together, but it seems to be working now.
Want to travel down the Loire River in France? A group on the Duckworks forum are planning to build a bunch of quick build boats, possibly including the Quick Canoe for a 14 day trip. Everyone covers their own expense. Maybe September.
Jani is a friend of Perttu in Finland. Jani wanted a boat for rowing and fishing. He built a Quick Canoe and modified it with outriggers and also worked out a scheme where it can carry one or two people simply by changing the bow. Maybe it is so clever because Jani is an Industrial Designer!
A bunch of photos of Robert Hoffman sailing his Beth Canoe. He built it over winter but now is enjoying Spring.
Perttu took his recently built “Quick Canoe” on a trip down a river in Finland. We don’t have rivers like this in Australia! To see them is quite exciting. The Quick Canoe is designed to be very cheap and easy to build, but still work OK.
Perttu is building his Quick Canoe in almost impossible conditions. The middle of the Finnish Winter. But the boat is going together well. He is building it very cheaply out of ply and polyester resin.
From Koala in Slovenia! He launched his green PDR onto a local river and invited fellow PDR builder Theodor to the launch. Neither of them has sailed before … and they had a great time. Well, we had a launch day on monday!! Beautiful weather, nice wind at first. And it was great. Theodor and […]
Since finding a UK Agent and doing some linguistic work on my website the spread of boats being built to my plans has become … rather large. The Excerpt is written by “Koala” in Slovenia (sorry Koala for my confusion about Slovenia/Slovakia) who is building a Eureka – the reason for the name? Maybe he […]
