Hello from Superior Wisconsin USA …
I was accepted into your group a while back, but have been laying in the weeds. While doing so I have appreciated all the knowledge I have gained about building and sailing the GIS from all who participate here. Thank you! At this time I have all my plywood cut, and the bulkheads and frames ready to glue up.

Some nice detailing!

First time out of the garage, rigging to be done yet. Come see our rigging guide for homebuilt sailboats. Goat Island Skiff is a Light fast simple to build sailing dinghy in plywood

Wooden Boat Launch delayed by the long 2019 winter.

Ready for Ice Out 2019, but yard sailing today. Very much appreciate all the contributors here for your help. Already going thru the withdrawal of not having my boat building time. Guess I will knock out some oars. Happy Holidays!! Leigh’s husband, Greg

Launch Day for another Goat and a Sailing Review!

Going through the rigging, the first time takes a bit of time, but after that it takes less than 10 minutes to set up.

Well at last I got the Goat Island Skiff “Why Not!” on the water. With a gusty 10 to 15 knot wind, I put in a single reef.

The boat behaved beautifully! Just a touch of weather helm, and performance beyond my expectations. I was very conservative on the sheet to not be dipped in the cold water, however had a bit come over the starboard rail. My first mate, Dani, took lots of pictures and video.

My biggest regret is that there are many shots of me, and none of her.Oh well, we lived to sail another day with a smile. The sailing season is here, more to come, Thank you Michael Storer for sharing this fabulous design.
