Denmark to Norway 90 miles in Open water – Goat Island Skiff

Marius writes: My dream of sailing my Goat Island Skiff Kringla over a 90 nm open ocean stretch from Skagen Denmark to Færder Norway finally came true last week end – great conditions and a superb test to the boats ability to perform not only inshore.

Due to a weather front chasing us we needed to seek shelter between the Swedish islands for the night, making the trip 120nm. 27h in total inkluding a 7h bivouac stop on a small island.

Video, GPS tracks and Photos below.

Most of the time we had around 14 to 16 knots wind, sometimes up to 18 and a few hours around 8 knots.

My companion Morten, an experienced sailor of boats in between Open 40 and 70 loved the Goat in all ways.

Departure – Ferry from Norway to Denmark. Objective – Sail back!

After three of preparing and waiting for conditions; Our Skagerrak crossing from Skagen Denmark to Færder Norway is happening.

Day 1 – From Denmark pointing the Goat Island Skiff to Norway. There is a plan B!

100 miles in 14 hours is moving right along.

A wet few hours on the island.

Miserable rainful night against a rock would most say.

Supreme camping for ocean sailors going coastal we would say.

110 nautical miles from Skagen to Færder terminated at 27 hours in total. Dream come true in my sweet little rocket shipKringla. #seallinegear #fyneboatkits

But the boat looks good!
