Small Sailboat Craned from 6th Floor

Building a sailboat in a confined space is not untypical, but Ermis in Greece built his Goat Island Skiff on the balcony of a 6th floor apartment and had to employ a very tall crane to lift the boat down.

Crane Driver wouldn’t believe the weight of the sailboat.

Of course the crane driver was very concerned about the weight of the boat. He has to know so that the crane won’t topple under the load.

Crane Driver: “how much does it weigh Sir?”

Ermis: “Around 60kg.” (120lbs)

That’s what I said and he stayed there looking at me in disbelief.

But since we lifted it to pass the straps under it he was amazed and started asking what type of boat it is!

I haven’t weighed it but it sure is somewhere there! (Typical of the 4.6m/16ft Goat Island Skiff)

So after a six level craned descent … where was the Goat going?

The funny thing is where was the boat was being moved to the building next door.

I assume at ground level!
