The goat island Skiff calendar 2018 is out now for christmas
Peter McKenzie and his sons from Queensland Sunshine Coast built a standard Eureka paddling canoe. Weight was the standard 44lbs. Peter’s email gives some nice tips. They are very happy campers.
The Drop in Outriggers can provide stability for many canoes kayaks and narrow dinghies. It can turn a less stable boat into an quick sailing platform or into a dive or snorkelling boat or a good fishing boat. No component is heavier than 10lbs and often the small hulls can fit inside the canoe when roofracking.
A 12lb canoe. The idea was to build a Rushton Wee Lassie in balsa strip with very light glass. The boat ended up being fairly durable despite not being interested in durability. As far as I was concerned I was going to be happy if it lasted a couple of years before being chucked into a dumpster somewhere. But five years later it was still beautiful despite good use.
A Fenwick Williams catboat carefully reinterpreted in Cedar Strip. Includes cleaner structure, optimised foils and a tabernacle rig that allows raising of the mast by one person. Built by David Wilson at Duck Flat Wooden Boats in Adelaide.
This is a reprint of an article from the OzGoose website with a preamble by me and some reorganisation to make it more useful to owners of other boats. As you may now we are one of the main developers of the knowledgebase for lug rigs, setup, rigging, control and performance. See the list of […]
Kits for Storer Designed Canoes and the Texas Duck which is an Ozracer derived kit.
The Oz Goose is multipurpose. It can hit speeds of 13 knot, is an excellent trainer and teaching boat with three adults aboard or a family sailer with two adults and a bunch of kids. It is lighter than a Laser Dinghy and a fraction of the cost
Sailing lessons 1 1/2 hours south of Manila on beautiful, natural Taal Lake. Boats, SUP boards and instruction, food, accommodation and Volcano and Eco Knowledge tours.
The OzRacers are steadily growing in numbers in Hungary. This increases the chance of meetups like this occasionon Lake Valence. Two very experienced sailors participate and enjoy the boats.
A camping get together for Goat Island Skiffs, other storerboats and friends and fans and other boats. Three or Four days camping by the water with friendly people. Interesting in building a Goat or actually building one … all are very welcome.
Ian Henehan worked out this 12ft Goose Version and launched it into 20 knot winds. You can check the video to see that this is probably correct. It certainly is, despite the poor camera angle which changes a few times the boat is fairly smoking along on a reach at one point with fine drifting […]

The new dinghy design is now called the S-12. Launched into light winds, there’s not a lot to report, but a photo essay. And some comments about the staying of the rig and keeping boats cheap and simple.
A new lightweight 12ft plywood dinghy under development. This prototype by Canadian Rick Landreville. It won’t have a cloud of sail area, but will be light enough low drag enough to hit consistently high speeds relative to other boats of this length.
Dave Lafontaine built his Goat Island Skiff in New York over the last couple of years. He’s now using it for some of the things he had planned.
Dayboat Launch 23ft (6.5m) by Stephen Foster – great photos of a fantastic looking boat. It is a very simplified hull – basically a square box, but I’ve done my normal trick of making it look rather nice. And Stephen’s clever adaptation of the cabin is just excellent!
What is revolutionary about a day sightseeing? The boat is driven easily at reasonable speed with a small electric trolling motor – some are well under 200 dollars. It doesn’t require a trailer. It comes from three sheets of exterior plywood. Costs are down on every front. And the family is happy! Snohomish Estuary
