In 2009 I went to the USA for a series of events and talks. I was partly funded by the sailing community including many of my friends in the wider homebuilt boat community. This is the treasure trove of photos from across the USA featuring people who build their own boats and also some of the museums and cities that make the USA great.

Owner: I am not much interested in racing, but there is no motor mount on this boat, and there never will be. I hate rowing, so the boat has to be able to take me where I want to go under sail. The foils were the first step-this sail completes the journey. :)

Industrial grade materials but the use of traditional bamboo raft tech have resulted in a huge variety of vessels in Taiwan. All still lashed together. Ranging from two oar single person fishing boats to trawlers 60 to 80ft long. Just lashed together. The truly surprising thing is just how fast they go together.
The BRIO Sailing Marathon is a very competitive sail and paddle event in the Netherlands. Joost and Viola in their Goat Island Skiff went in the 2017 event. Against the specialised boats that enter the event they ended coming in 57th of 139.
The GIS excels at a competive row and sail event. The Caledonia RAID is one of the oldest events of its type. A competitive multi day event that crosses Scotland from West to East including a crossing of Loch Lomond. It tends to attract long and efficient rowing sailing hulls. And here was one of the shortest, simplest and lightest hulls in the fleet punching well above its weight
Peter McKenzie and his sons from Queensland Sunshine Coast built a standard Eureka paddling canoe.

In the Philippines imported boat parts look extremely expensive compared to local incomes. So we have worked hard to eliminate them as much as possible or replace them. What is easy, cheap and good for racing performance? The result is a big way to save money.
